Brexit update (18/04/2019):
The EU has now granted the UK an extension until 31st October 2019. This extension means a disorderly, fall-out in the form of a no-deal Brexit in April has been avoided. However, given the uncertainty over the outcome of the next six months, B3CF fear further delays and more disruption to business of all sizes.
As this extended period of negotiations continues, B3CF hopes for clear-cut decisions from theUK government, policy makers and negotiators, who need to take into account the interests of micro, small and medium sized as well as larger businesses.Particularly, in a no-deal scenario, there are many questions unanswered by government. Whether a company is in direct trade in or with the UK, large or small, international or local, there there will be consequences across the board.
The business impact needs to be properly assessed and communicated to all enterprises inFinland, the UK and Commonwealth, to ensure a smooth transition and sustainable business growth. The well-being of the engines of our economies is of paramount importance.
In order to limit damages owing to the uncertainty of Brexit, B3CF are listening to members, talking to business across Europe and speaking with advisors from member companies and and experts from all sides to give the best available advice and services during the Brexit process.
In 2017, B3CF put together the views of our members and communicated them to COBCOE, delivering the message to the UK Government, and EU Institutions. This contribution led to the COBCOE report ‘Voices of EuropeanBusinesses’.
B3CF believes, like its members and those of COBCOE, in the limiting of barriers to trade and maintaining a frictionless European economy, in reducing uncertainty overBrexit and promoting the role of the UK as a springboard for Europe into international markets.
