The 5th International Lord Mayor's Big Curry Lunch

In its fifth year, the International Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch in Finland has firmly established itself as a key part of the B3CF’s charitable and cultural programme. Once again hosted in the elegant setting of Svenska Klubben, the event welcomed a distinguished group of guests in support of veterans of His Majesty’s Armed Forces, many of whom now live in Finland.

The occasion was further distinguished by the presence of John Cookson, who travelled from London to attend in full Light Cavalry uniform as a member of the Honourable Artillery Company. Established by Royal Warrant of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2004, the Light Cavalry serves as the ceremonial bodyguard to the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of the City of London. His attendance added a striking touch of City of London tradition and pageantry to the event.

The afternoon commenced in high spirits with a festive sparkling wine reception. As guests renewed old connections and made new ones over glasses of sparkling wine, the tone was set for an occasion shaped by purpose, partnership, and philanthropy.

Guests were then invited to enjoy a sumptuous curry buffet, featuring classics such as Lamb Madras, Chicken Korma, and Palak Paneer. Once again, the flavours drew enthusiastic praise. The menu was accompanied by a carefully selected drinks offering, including Spitfire beer courtesy of Servaali, together with Leth Duett Riesling & Veltliner and Ecoltura Appassimento Organico from Galatea Beverages Oy.

The formal programme was opened by B3CF Executive Director, Vladislav Dobrokhotov, followed by sharing video greetings from the Rt Hon The Lady Mayor of the City of London, Dame Susan Langley, reinforcing the enduring connection between London and Helsinki in this shared cause. Reflecting on the journey of the Big Curry Lunch in Finland since its inception in 2022, she noted the growing impact and international resonance of the initiative.

The B3CF is proud to see this meaningful initiative continue to expand its global footprint.
