The 4th Commonwealth Golf Day

Commonwealth Golf Day in Finland 2021

On Wednesday 16 June 2021, the B3CF and The Royal Commonwealth Society Nordic-Baltic Hub were honoured to organise the Fourth Commonwealth Golf Day, Awards and Dinner.  This year, we were sponsored by Edrington, Rights & Brands, Westerback, Palkintotehdas, Business Shooting Club Kokkovuori, Taitokaari, and Mr Moore’s Motorcycles.

The Golf Day kicked off with a breakfast and briefing. Garry Parker, Chairman of B3CF, welcomed all guests to the Golf Day. Linda Ratilainen, Service Manager, introduced the guests to the club. This year, we have  displayed an iconic Aston Martin DB9, presented by Bilbutiken. After the welcomes and introductions, the guests headed out towards the first hole. Over the course of the day, the teams played a total of 18 holes. The players were given Moomin golf sets, courtesy of our competition sponsor Rights & Brands, with 3 Moomin golf balls each with a different character.

After the round of golf, players had a chance to enjoy a hot sauna as well as a complementary session of shiatsu massage from Nordic Shiatsu Centre. Just after 16:00, golfers were joined at the evening reception with drinks by other guests. For the first hour, diners were entertained by Toni Antone, while enjoying a delicious food. The Famous Grouse Whisky could be sampled free of charge throughout the evening. Several guests were inspired by the great atmosphere to join Toni in spicing up the musical entertainment towards the end of the evening.

The prizes were kindly provided by our member company, Palkintotehdas. The prizes for the best team went to Reginald Rusan, Juha Ruusunen Maria Flygare and Kimmo Kujanpää, with a result of 82. Awards were given out for various golfing achievements: - The prize for “Closest to the Pin at Hole #2” went to Steinar Hovi at 12,81m.- The prize for “Closest to the Pin in 2 at Hole #18” went to Arto Joensuu at 6,6m.- The prize for “Longest Drive” went to Mai Linh.  All winners were presented with a bottle of The Famous Grouse whisky, courtesy of Edrington Finland.

Arto Joensuu also won the Best Individual Commonwealth Trophy along with a €300 Gift Card from Westerback jewellers (courtesy of Westerback 1897)
