Commonwealth Golf Day in Finland 2024

On 27th May 2024, the British & Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce in Finland hosted the highly anticipated 7th Commonwealth Golf Day at Tapiola Golf. The event was graced with excellent weather, a clear blue sky, and plenty of sunshine, setting the perfect scene for a day of golf, networking, and enjoyment.

The day began with a captivating golf tournament where enthusiasts and chamber members gathered to showcase their skills. The competition was friendly yet fierce, with players from diverse backgrounds demonstrating precision and sportsmanship on the well-manicured greens and lush fairways of Tapiola Golf.

The Commonwealth Golf Day is renowned for the sport and the opportunities it provides for networking and building lasting relationships. After the game, participants enjoyed a traditional Finnish sauna, and Dominican cigars by J. Cortes sharing stories of their golfing experiences. The atmosphere was camaraderie and business networking, fostering new friendships and business connections.

The event was supported by generous sponsors who enhanced the experience: Edrington Finland: Provided prizes, including Famous B3CF Grouse whisky for tournament winners and special competition winners. Bentley Suomi: Presented a set of golf balls to the winning team and a golf marker to the Rookie of the Year, Konstantin Dobrokhotov. Hotel Maria: Provided the main prize, including accommodation for two and invitations to Afternoon Tea for two. This year's event featured a special address by the Ambassador of Namibia to Finland, His Excellency Charles Josob, adding an extra layer of significance to the gathering.

The highlight of the day was the prize ceremony, which recognised the outstanding performances of the participants. The winners for this year's event were: Antti Suonio: Achieved a result of -3 and was also the scratch score winner. He was part of the winning team along with Steinar Hovi and Mai Linh. Second HCP Result: Edwin Benik (E), Third HCP Result: Steinar Hovi (+2), Longest Drive: Ben Holden, last year's winner. Closest to the Pin: Mai Linh and Jukka Tapiovaara.

As the sun set on the 7th Commonwealth Golf Day, participants departed with memories of a well-spent day filled with friendly competition, new connections, and a shared passion for golf. The event underscored the British & Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce in Finland's dedication to organising remarkable initiatives that unite individuals with a passion for business and leisure.
